Ilinois Secretary of State Jesse White Receives Lerner/Egan Award at Citizen Action Illinois' Annual Dinner
Citizen Action/Illinois' 2011 Annual Dinner was held Friday evening, September 9, at the Chicago Hilton and Towers. Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White was honored with the 2011 Lerner/Egan Award for his decades of public service and tireless commitment to working families and to the public interest.
Attendees were thrilled by the dazzling, high-flying abilities of the Jesse White Tumblers, and heard from Illinois Governor Pat Quinn, U.S. Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan, Illinois Senate President John Cullerton, Illinois AFL-CIO President Michael Carrigan, Citizen Action Co-director and USAction President William McNary, and others. Special awards were also presented to volunteer advocates in the fight for health care justice.
In every way the dinner was a great success, and Citizen Action/Illinois extends its thanks to everyone who attended or supported the event.
