Supporting Public Education – From Pre-school through College

Citizen Action/Illinois believes that everyone has the right to the best possible education and fully supports the system of public education, from pre-school through university levels. Citizen Action/Illinois also works at the state and federal level to support increased funding for after-school programs in public schools.

Citizen Action/Illinois recognizes that Illinois education is in crisis. We support the real reforms required to improve the declining quality of public education that affect every student in every community in our state. Citizen Action/Illinois calls on state government take a greater financial role supporting local education and to pass much needed reforms to ensure that we can improve education outcomes at the same time we reduce the reliance on local property taxes to fund our schools.

Citizen Action/Illinois join the public school teachers of Illinois in supporting the "Accountability for All" legislation which is an important step toward guaranteeing that schools, districts, and the state share responsibility for student success.
